Sunday 11 February: The Tasman Sea

The Tasman Sea has been much kinder to us so far on the way back.  This is the first of two sea days as we wend our way back to Sydney.

We had a fairly relaxing day.  It was the second of our two formal nights, although you would barely know it.  As we noticed on our South Seas cruise of two years ago, people in this part of the world don't seem to dress up and I was one of only 3 people we saw wearing a dinner suit and you could count on the fingers of both hands the number of others wearing even a tie and/or jacket.  As is often the case, the women had made much more effort than the men generally.

If only we'd known in advance, we could have saved some weight in our cases and brought fewer clothes.

The entertainment theme of the evening was an Aussie/UK night and the entertainment crew put on a good show in the centrum.  My Union Flag bow tie was noticed and remarked upon, especially by a woman from Brisbane who'd made a pass at me earlier in the day!

Oh well, you can't always help these things ....

There was a sad moment right at the end of the day when we returned to our cabin to find that some poor creature had decided to end it all while we were out!
